Have you ever wondered how a certain room or certain colors can make you feel a certain way?
Well….. Its True!! As an interior Designer it is our jobs to identify that every individual have different personalities that have different interests in taste and colors. I have always been very interested in the way that rooms, lighting, colors, or even certain arrangements give off different moods. If you think about it… everyone has a favorite color.. Everyone has a favorite style.
I personally really enjoy this aspect of mood and design. I am so interested in the fact that you can create a certain feeling in an individual just by choosing certain colors and arrangements. When choosing colors , moods, styles, and arrangements for a certain space its our jobs to clearly recognize the flow and purpose of each space.

Even Restaurant owners and designers are aware of this. Designers for restaurants tend to choose colors and designs that either encourages customers to linger and eat more (soft cushions, low light) or eat rapidly and leave to create more room for additional customers (bright colors, hard seats). Accessories, Furnishings, room arrangement, paint colors and even different smell scan affect the mood of the person in that particular room. That’s why identifying the purpose of the room is very important. Is it a place to relax, such as a bedroom? Is it a place of entertainment, like a family room or a living room? So the purpose of the room is the deciding factor in how it is designed to affect the certain mood you wan to portray.
COLORS
Bright colors are not exactly what we call relaxing hues. The bright colors imply energy and light. We see bright colors used in certain rooms such as bedrooms and kitchens. For a certain individual, they may want to capture the act of happiness in their room, therefore using bright colors that symbolize sunshine. Bright colors are also seen in the Kitchen because food is energy. If a room consists of too many colors, it may cause stress and chaos, so its important to balance the room carefully.
Subdued cool colors create feelings such as relaxation, calm, or peaceful. Soft blues, greens, purples, other grays and neutrals are often used in formal living rooms, bathrooms, and bedrooms to create a feeling of restfulness in the user. Restoration is the concept we want to feel when waking up every morning.
Lighting:
Even certain lighting captures certain moods. Soft lighting imprisons the idea of relaxation, lounging, and the peacefulness of a room. That’s why today we see a lot o candles being used in bathrooms and formal rooms. Along with using certain pendant lighting, gives us that vibe as well.
A lot of natural light from windows gives us the vibe of energizing, awake, happiness, and upbeat living. Along with bright incandescent lights can give the bright lights that we need to keep us going. Its important to recognize the different moods and lighting that either excited us or clams us.
DESIGN IS LIFE! :)
